Description
Melanotan II is a cyclic synthetic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-MSH with non-selective activity at MC1R, MC3R, MC4R and MC5R.
Mechanism: MC1R activation drives melanin synthesis; MC4R activation in CNS modulates appetite and sexual arousal pathways. The non-selective profile gives MT-II its characteristic combined activity at tanning, appetite and sexual response targets.
Research findings: Original parent compound for PT-141 derivation. Used in central melanocortin signalling, eumelanin synthesis and combined-pathway behavioural research.
Handling: Lyophilized peptide. Store sealed at -20°C for long-term stability or 2-8°C short-term. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or 0.6% acetic acid as appropriate to the molecule.
For research purposes only. Not for human consumption. This material is intended exclusively for in-vitro laboratory and preclinical research applications conducted by qualified personnel.
