Description
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a cyclic synthetic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-MSH with selective activity at melanocortin receptors.
Mechanism: Activates MC4R in the central nervous system to drive central pathways involved in sexual arousal. Distinct from PDE5 inhibitors which act on peripheral vasculature, PT-141 operates upstream on the desire pathway itself.
Research findings: FDA-approved as Vyleesi for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in pre-menopausal women. Phase 2/3 trials reported improvements in arousal and desire scores. Reference compound in central melanocortin and sexual response research.
Handling: Lyophilized peptide. Store sealed at -20°C for long-term stability or 2-8°C short-term. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or 0.6% acetic acid as appropriate to the molecule.
For research purposes only. Not for human consumption. This material is intended exclusively for in-vitro laboratory and preclinical research applications conducted by qualified personnel.
