Description
IGF-1 LR3 is a recombinant analogue of human insulin-like growth factor-1 with an arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-residue N-terminal extension.
Mechanism: The Arg3 substitution dramatically reduces affinity for IGF-binding proteins, leaving more free peptide available to engage IGF-1 receptors. Plasma half-life extends to 20-30 hours versus 10-12 minutes for native IGF-1.
Research findings: A standard tool in cell-culture proliferation research, muscle hypertrophy models and ageing-related anabolic resistance studies. Used as a long-acting IGF-1R reference compound.
Handling: Lyophilized peptide. Store sealed at -20°C for long-term stability or 2-8°C short-term. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or 0.6% acetic acid as appropriate to the molecule.
