Description
Mazdutide (IBI362, LY3305677) is an oxyntomodulin-analogue dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors.
Mechanism: GLP-1 receptor activation drives incretin and satiety effects; concurrent glucagon receptor signalling raises energy expenditure and promotes hepatic fat oxidation, producing weight loss accompanied by improvements in hepatic steatosis markers.
Research findings: Phase 2 trials in Chinese adults with obesity reported placebo-adjusted weight reductions of 11-12% at 24 weeks and meaningful reductions in liver fat content on MRI-PDFF. The dual mechanism is of particular interest in MAFLD/NASH research.
Handling: Lyophilized peptide. Store sealed at -20°C for long-term stability or 2-8°C short-term. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or 0.6% acetic acid as appropriate to the molecule.
